The Lord is jealous

Many years ago I was working in a company and I had a colleague who isn't a believer. At that time I had just received the Lord and was a new believer.

My colleague was reading a book by an author that wrote about Jesus not being the Son of God. That the Lord did not die. That He survived but pretended to have died and resurrected and created an entire religion based on lies. I had not known what the book is all about so I borrowed it from him. I was troubled after I read just a few pages of that book. My faith in the Lord was a little shaken. I became a little unsure. The next day I was waiting for the bus to go to work.

I remember those days I was using a Palm III personal digital assistant (PDA). The screen is monochrome (imagine!) and it has the bible app on it. After I boarded the bus, I looked at my Palm III  and it was turned on and the bible app was opened and it showed Galatians 1:
6I marvel that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ to a different "good news"; 7and there isn't another "good news." Only there are some who trouble you, and want to pervert the Good News of Christ. 8But even though we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you any "good news" other than that which we preached to you, let him be cursed. 9As we have said before, so I now say again: if any man preaches to you any "good news" other than that which you received, let him be cursed. (WEB)

But I remembered clearly that my Palm PDA wasn't switched on. And my last opened app wasn't the bible. And the last verse I was reading in the bible app isn't Galatians. So the PDA turned on itself, activated the right app and went to the right verse. Boy, that verse sure spoke to me. I was confused no more.

At the office I related the story to my colleague. He quickly snatched back his book, as he did not want to be responsible for affecting my faith. I can still remember the look on his face :). The Lord was protecting my young faith then. The Lord is very active in our lives. Praise the Lord!

"You shall not make for yourselves an idol, nor any image of anything that is in the heavens above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: you shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them, for I, Yahweh your God, am a jealous God.....(Exodus 20:4-5, WEB)

I am glad the Lord is jealous for me. I don't think any girl would be happy if there is a third party in her relationship and her boyfriend isn't jealous. God is jealous for me, that I should only see the truth and not falsehood, so that I may not be harmed. He is jealous for me because He loves me and that I may be kept safe.

I am glad God is a jealous God and I am glad He is jealous for me.
