We are free!

I was chit chatting with a colleague today and he mentioned that the world defines us and it is hard not to do what the majority does. I told him I am not defined by the world and it is because the major part of my identity is that of a Christian, a part he does not see. I recounted a story of how I was moved by a former boss to a department that I felt does not add value to my growth and I did tell God that. When I still ended up in that department I knew God sent me but I have no idea why. But what God did is He gave me new opportunities that would not have happened if I had stayed where I am. Now I am much better off than if I had stayed where I thought was good for me.

And my colleague, a non-believer, after listening to me, summarizes succinctly that I am not defined by the world, but I am submitted to God's plans. And I said yes. I had not really look at it that way. But it certainly feels good that the world is not able to define us. People are being assessed all the time. We are being labelled as good or bad. But isn't it refreshing to know that as a child of God, God defines us and our lives. And our fate is not in the hands of mere mortals. And we can define ourselves based on God's words! The blessings that Jesus purchased for us at the cross, when we receive it, isn't understood by the world. It comes at an angle the world cannot anticipate and it defies explanations. God's miracles are all like that isn't it?

So we are free. Free to enjoy God's blessings. Free to be who we are in Christ. Free to enjoy God's wonderful plans. Not tied in to the world's systems. Not limited by them.

It is a good feeling! :)
