A view of faith and grace

The faith movement has produced great men of God. In the recent years, I see Grace and Hope as two big messages the Lord is blessing. I do know of a great grace preacher who professed that he has learnt much from the faith movement.

Sometimes I wonder if we have the faith movement, then why does God introduce the grace message? I have seen a great faith preacher speaking about drafting a contractual type of document as a prayer and teaching that.

Then I am reminded of the woman with the issue of blood of 12 years who approached Jesus. The story is found in Matthew 9:20-22, Mark 5:25:34 and Luke 8:43-48. This woman was suffering but then her faith made her well. She knew if she just touched Jesus, she will receive what she needed. However, she did not appeal directly to the person of Jesus as she was not sure if Jesus would answer if she had just asked. So she obtained by her own actions, and not by approaching the person of Jesus.

This woman signifies the faith movement. Her faith started to operate when she heard of the Lord - a sign of the times of the end when Jesus is coming back. But when Jesus came on the scene (a little while after the faith movement in time frame), Grace arrived. Jesus is Grace in person. Faith movement has results. The woman still obtained from the Lord by her actions. But Jesus had to stop and tell her that He isn't offended, something she did not know and needed to know. He encouraged her. And as a result, Faith who encountered Grace will receive much more than she had planned - the lady was called a "daughter", thus given a position with the Lord she never knew she had and she was blessed to enter the Lord's Shalom Peace. Now the woman will know that she could receive not by working but by receiving based on her position of being a daughter. No contracts are needed. The next time her faith will not cause her to do something in order to receive from Christ. Her faith will bring her to the person of Christ to ask and she knows for sure that she will receive just by being God's daughter!

You know Faith could obtain results through approaching the Lord and performing a certain action without speaking to Him or appealing to Him based on relationship. But Faith may not realize that blessings have always been given by Grace (Jesus) anyway - given freely by position and not by works, in spite of and apart from works.
for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast. (Ephesian 2:8-9, WEB)
When Faith (movement) meets the person of Jesus (Grace), her blessing is complete. The way He will stop for the woman to let her know and bless her is the same way He will deal with us today. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. May the Faith movement be blessed.

Bless His Holy Name.

Shalom.

  1. Faith is the hand that takes and Grace is the hand that gives. Whatever mustard seed faith we had was given by God to start off with. I think the faith movement is like the foundation building blocks for the grace movement. The great men of God from the word of Faith movement also have revelations of how gracious our God is and how ready He is to pour out His blessings upon those who believes and ready to receive.
